The fund's primary objective is to achieve capital appreciation. To accomplish this, the investment adviser targets equity securities of companies with a medium market capitalization. Specifically, these are companies that currently distribute dividends or are reasonably expected to initiate such payments to their shareholders. A substantial portion, at least 80% of its net assets, will be dedicated to dividend-paying common stocks and various other equity-related securities, such as preferred stock, convertible debt instruments, and warrants. The adviser defines mid-cap companies as those whose market capitalization falls within the range of the Russell Midcap® Value Index at the time of purchase.
